Tender thoughts & tender mercies.

So I was called to be a Sunday school teacher about 2 weeks ago and this past Sunday, I taught my first lesson on "I Am the Light of the World". I talked a lot about turning to Christ in all things, especially in times of need & trial. I read a quote in conclusion of my lesson that I want to share...

What is love? Are your palms sweaty, is your heart racing, is your voice caught within your chest? That isn't love, that's just lust. Are you proud and eager to show them off? That isn't love, it's pride. Do you want them because you know they're there? That isn't love, it's loneliness. Are you there because it's what everyone wants? That isn't love, it's loyalty. Are you there because they kissed you or held your hand? That isn't love, it's low self esteem. Do you stay for their confessions of love because you don't want to hurt them? That isn't love, it's pity. Do you belong to them because when you see them your heart skips a beat? That isn't love, it's infatuation. Do you pardon their faults because you care about them? That isn't love, it's friendship. Do you tell them every day that they're the only one you think of? That isn't love, that's a lie. Are you willing to give up your favorite things for their sake? That isn't love, it's charity. Does your heart break when they're sad? That's love. Do their eyes see your true heart, and touch your soul so deeply it hurts? That's love. This is for all the jerks that have been telling a girl words that are to die for. You tell her, "You'd change for her. " And you go behind her back, and go against your word. You tell her, "You're the only one I talk to baby " But in reality, you're texting a million other girls, and telling them the same thing. You bring her out one day, hold her hand, give her a peck on the lips, hold her bag, and hold her by the waist. You show your friends you're with her, but you stop texting/calling her after that day. You call her "my girl" which just makes her feel so good, when you got 2 or 3 other girls on the side too. This is for all the jerks, who've lied to a woman's face. Who've stopped talking to a woman after a day, who've just canceled a women out of their lives. Seriously? Grow up. We've been telling you jerk how much we hate getting hurt, and we expect so much from you guys. We expect you guys to change, but do you? Negative. It's sad because it spoils all the other guys who'd want a chance with these girls. They'd have to work harder, because the girl's afraid she'd get played again. Two words for guys like this: Please stop.

Can't you see it? She likes you, more than you could imagine. It's in her eyes, it's in her voice, it's in her smile. She's so different when you're around -- so much happier. You're the one for her, but you don't see that, do you?

What exactly is a broken heart? A broken heart is forcing yourself to hang up the phone after you have dialed the first three digits to his phone number. A broken heart is the cold, chattering feeling you receive when you hear his name. A broken heart is when you're crying yourself to sleep every night and yet crying more and more each morning. A broken heart is glancing at the pictures of the two of you, and then quickly turning your attention to something else to avoid your tears. A broken heart is screaming and begging for a second chance inside, but not being able to say it out loud. A broken heart is the emptiness and heart wrenching feeling you encounter when you see him with other girls. A broken heart is knowing that no matter what you do or say to yourself, you cant fool your heart into believing that you will in fact "be okay". A broken heart is listening to that one song that makes you break down, on repeat. A broken heart is when you go from smiling uncontrollably every time you saw him to quiet tears every time someone mentions his name. A broken heart is when you try to avoid him but end up going out of your way just to get a glimpse of him. A broken heart is when you know you've been hurt, but have no idea how to fix it. A broken heart is when you finally realize that he's everything you need and at the same time realize he's the one thing you can never have.

♥ They all joke around saying we're gonna end up married someday. We're best friends, that's it. You know everything about me. But somehow, I can't help but hope maybe they're right. Maybe we really are perfect for each other and just don't know it yet.

♥ i think so often, many of us settle for less than what we deserve because we don't think we'll ever find anything better than what we truly deserve. So we end up with people who we can live with instead of people who we can't live without.

♥ So here's a piece of advice: let go when you're hurting too much. Give up when love isn't enough, and move on when things are not like before. For surely there is someone out there who will love you even more.

♥ Time + Crisis = Humor

If you can't look back at the hard time & laugh. It was all a waste.

You don't ever see someone. You don't see them as who they are and who they need to be recognized as. You see them as who you need them to be.

The way I feel for you, I can't describe. It's almost too intense to verbalize. Essentially you're all I'm living for and basically each day, I need you more and more.

♥ Because you know me right? You know me so well. You know everything about me, my influences, what hurts me, what helps me, what haunts me, you know it all, right? You know what I've been through, going through, and will go through, don't you? You know all my choices and the reasons as to why I made them, right? Listen, think what you want when you come and mouth off about how ridiculous, or stupid, or dumb, or ugly, or whatever else you want to call me, but remember that you don't know half of the story and I doubt when you're pointing the finger, your own slate is clean, right?

Summer is where the girls go barefoot and their hearts are just as free as their toes.

She really does like him, she likes lying next to him, she wants to be around him; when you get down to it, can you say that about many people?

There are three kinds of secrets: 1. Something that you hide at the bottom of your heart because you don't want it to be mentioned. 2. Something you can't say even if you want to. 3. Something you hope someone asks about even though you're hiding it.

♥ you're something i don't understand. it's new for me, but that's okay. i've been wanting a change.

You can't let yourself fall for the same stuff over and over. You can't allow it to trap you up, and suffocate you until you say what it wants you to say. You can't allow yourself to say yes every time and fall into its arms. You need to get a grip on yourself because each time you say yes, you know for sure it's going to end up with tears on your side. You know it's a constant cycle, and it's bound to happen again. Seriously, get a grip on yourself and walk away when you still can. Because it's a monster. It can kill you. Love doesn't die, but it can kill you.

what's the point? i mean, why do i put myself through this? i watched you break my heart and throw the pieces on the floor. and then i picked them up and handed them right back to you. i think that makes me stupid. i mean, seriously, i actually trusted you. and even when you disappointed me, i gave you another chance. that must make me the most foolish person in the world. or maybe that makes me the girl who loves you more than she loves herself.

you mean absolutely everything to me. i've never felt so much for one person in my life.

Just because someone flirts with you, doesn't mean they like you. Just because someone likes you, doesn't mean they want to date you. Just because someone dates you, doesn't mean they love you. Just because someone loves you, doesn't mean they won't hurt you.

If you weren't jealous every once in awhile, you wouldn't be in love.

♥ It turns out that sometimes you have to do the wrong thing. Sometimes you have to make a mistake to figure out how to make things right. Mistakes are painful, but they are the only way to figure out who you really are and who cares enough to help.

Right now I want a word that describes the feeling you get - a cold, sick feeling deep down inside - when you know something is happening that will change you, and you don't want it to, but you can't stop it. And you know, for the first time, for the very first time, that there will now be a before and an after, a was and a will be. And that you will never again be quite the person you were.
